Paritua Willow Chardonnay 2024 is crafted by Paritua Wines in Hawke’s Bay, sourced from the Willow Vineyard which benefits from free-draining soils and the region’s warm days tempered by cooling coastal influences. This is a refined and quietly confident Chardonnay, opening with aromas of white peach, nectarine and lemon zest, layered with subtle notes of cashew, soft spice and a hint of flint. The palate is medium bodied and finely structured, showing supple texture from barrel fermentation and lees ageing, balanced by fresh acidity and a gentle mineral line. Stone fruit and citrus flavours flow through to a poised, savoury finish where oak is seamlessly integrated. The style favours elegance and balance over power, allowing vineyard character to take focus. The 2024 vintage received 93 points from Bob Campbell MW, highlighting its composure and finesse. Paritua Willow Chardonnay is drinking well now and will continue to evolve gracefully over the next four to six years.

 

“An excellent bouquet, modern, ripe, taut and enticing. Aromas of grapefruit and white peach then scents of barrel and stony soil mineral ideas. As the wine opens out in glass it becomes more complex and intriguing. A dry wine on the palate, tension and texture then core fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. Fine tannins from both wood and fruit and a backbone of acidity with a gentle flinty quality. Poised and new, a wine that has power and impact, flavour and texture.”

About Paritua Wines

Our vineyard is in the heart of the acclaimed Bridge Pa Triangle wine region of Hawke’s Bay, on New Zealand’s North Island. The site is all gravel soils and gentle contours, surrounded by hills and blessed with long, lingering summers and clear, crisp winters… exceptional conditions to create exceptional wines.

The name Paritua is a tribute to the Paritua Stream, which meanders gently through the vineyard. Paritua means the meandering stream above the ancient river. The vineyard is planted over the historical riverbed of the nearby Ngaruroro River which flowed through pre the 1860s earthquake. It is a name that also acknowledges the connection with the land and the people of New Zealand.

Wines bearing our boutique label Paritua are produced only in outstanding vintages, whilst our Stone Paddock selection of wines are made every year. Every bottle of Paritua wine comes from grapes grown on this special, single vineyard, organically farmed site.
