Paritua Red 2021 is crafted by Paritua Wines in Hawke’s Bay, a flagship Bordeaux-style blend drawn from the estate’s clay and gravel vineyards that favour power balanced by finesse. This is a polished and authoritative red, opening with aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and blackberry, layered with cedar, graphite, dried herbs and subtle cocoa. The palate is medium to full bodied and firmly structured, showing fine-grained tannins, well-judged acidity and impressive concentration without excess weight. Dark fruit flavours are supported by savoury complexity, integrated oak and a persistent mineral line that carries through the long, composed finish. The style is confident yet measured, allowing vineyard character and structure to lead. The 2021 vintage received 94 points from Bob Campbell MW, reinforcing its standing as a benchmark Hawke’s Bay red blend. Approachable with decanting, Paritua Red will reward cellaring over the next eight to twelve years, gaining further depth and harmony with time.

About Paritua Wines

Our vineyard is in the heart of the acclaimed Bridge Pa Triangle wine region of Hawke’s Bay, on New Zealand’s North Island. The site is all gravel soils and gentle contours, surrounded by hills and blessed with long, lingering summers and clear, crisp winters… exceptional conditions to create exceptional wines.

The name Paritua is a tribute to the Paritua Stream, which meanders gently through the vineyard. Paritua means the meandering stream above the ancient river. The vineyard is planted over the historical riverbed of the nearby Ngaruroro River which flowed through pre the 1860s earthquake. It is a name that also acknowledges the connection with the land and the people of New Zealand.

Wines bearing our boutique label Paritua are produced only in outstanding vintages, whilst our Stone Paddock selection of wines are made every year. Every bottle of Paritua wine comes from grapes grown on this special, single vineyard, organically farmed site.
