Greywacke Chardonnay 2023, from Greywacke in Marlborough, New Zealand, shows classic line-clean elegance with layers of texture and minerality. The nose delivers lively citrus notes, crème anglaise and praline, mingling with flinty minerality. On the palate the wine offers rich yet poised flavours of lemon curd on hot buttered brioche, stone fruit warmed by gentle oak, a hint of tarragon, and an underpinning of zesty acidity. This Chardonnay 2023 is concentrated and layered with savory depth, elegant structure and ageing potential. Greywacke Chardonnay 2023 is compelling for pairing with seafood, creamy dishes or roast poultry. ABV approximately 14.1 percent, barrel-aged in French oak.

About Greywacke Wines

Greywacke (pronounced Greywacky) is the Marlborough label of the Judd family and the name of New Zealand’s most abundant bedrock. These understated grey river stones are found throughout Marlborough’s rivers and alluvial vineyard soils. A delicious wine with a frame of spice and fruit purity, lemon and apple with a white stone fruit quality. The highlight for me is the wild flowers and heirloom fruit suggestions framed by a lees and wood flavours. Almost full-bodied with a lactic leesy quality, plenty of complexity and lots of intrigue. Delicious, fresh and perfect on its own or with food. Best drinking from day of purchase through 2031+.
