Hewitson Miss Harry G.S.M. 2023 is crafted by Hewitson Wines in the Barossa Valley, drawing on old-vine Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre to deliver freshness, balance and regional character. This is an expressive and approachable Rhône-style blend, opening with aromas of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry, layered with dried herbs, gentle spice and a subtle earthy nuance. The palate is medium bodied and finely structured, showing bright red fruit flavours supported by supple tannins and lively acidity. Grenache brings perfume and lift, Shiraz adds mid-palate depth, and Mourvèdre contributes savoury complexity and length. Oak influence is restrained, allowing purity and drinkability to take centre stage. The style is vibrant and food friendly rather than heavy, capturing a modern Barossa expression. The 2023 vintage has received around 92 points from leading Australian critics, highlighting its balance and charm. Drinking beautifully now, Hewitson Miss Harry G.S.M. will continue to offer excellent enjoyment over the next four to six years.

About Hewitson Wines

Hewitson Wines is a family-owned producer based in the heart of the Barossa Valley, South Australia. Founded in 1998 by Dean Hewitson, the estate draws deeply on history, sourcing fruit from some of the oldest vines in the world, including a legendary vineyard planted in 1853.

Their vineyards are rooted in dry-grown, pre-phylloxera plantings such as the “Old Garden” block, which includes historic vines of Mourvèdre, a rarity globally, along with vineyards in other premium South Australian regions including Eden Valley, McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.

Winemaking at Hewitson marries Old-World respect for vineyard heritage with modern restraint and precision. The philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, letting the vineyard speak for itself: careful canopy management, dry farming, and sensitive use of French oak when needed, to preserve purity, structure and terroir expression.

Hewitson’s wines are defined by their authenticity, age-worthy structure, and sense of place: from robust, earthy reds built on ancient vines to elegant whites and Rhône-style blends. The house is respected for wines that combine power with refinement, offering serious depth for collectors and everyday appeal for wine lovers.
