Dicey is a place that is a rocky pocket of Central Otago: Bannockburn. It\u2019s not easy to make wine here. Hoar frosts. Wind. Bitter cold and crackling heat. The land is unforgiving and the wines express that struggle.<\/p>\n<p>The fruit comes from three vineyards started by three families transcending two generations. James and Odelle have The Inlet. Matt and Ali belong to Black Rabbit. Their pioneering parents, Robin and Margi, own their Swansong.<\/p>\n<p>Our vineyards are named Swansong, Black Rabbit, and Inlet. Swansong is steep \u2014 the vines clawing their way along terraces of eroded gravel and clay. Black Rabbit sits on ancient bedrock, vines nestled into windblown soil. Inlet\u2019s vines drape over a terrace of deep river gravel. We coax the best out of these reluctant soils by striving for balance.<\/p>\n<p>Dicey Bannockburn wines pay homage. They tell the annual story of the region and share the colours of each season. The Single Vineyard wines have an even sharper focus.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEW ZEALAND WIDE SHIPPING INCLUDED<\/p>\n<p>The fruit was harvested early for Chenin Blanc. Whole bunch pressed, fermented warm on full solids with indigenous yeast. Fermentation stopped with ~26 g\/L of natural residual sugar.Bottled unfined, filtered in June 2023.<\/p>\n<p>2023 will be remembered as a rare three-peat of La Nina &#8211; effectively this means a benign summer with decent heat and not too much rainfall. This continued until mid-March when we experienced a switch to almost spring-like weather. The upshot was a cool and elongated ripening phase which allowed all varieties to reach peak flavour and ripeness.
